1850: Désiré, Adelbert Matthijs’s great-grandfather, sets up in business as a painter, unaware that he’s laying the foundations for a long family tradition.

1980: Adelbert Matthijs and his wife Liesbet follow in the footsteps of patriarch Julien Matthijs and work on painting and interior decoration projects together.

2009: Rolf, their youngest child, specialises in stucco and plastering.

2010: Tijl Matthijs graduates from art college after studying for seven years. He is ready to continue the painting tradition that has been in the family for generations.
